AHDRA prides itself of giving fantastic awards. We are always trying to offer something new and exciting.
AHDRA gives out first through sixth place in Endurance, Limited Distance, and Competitive Trail. Some of our rides also give out placings for Competitive Driving and Novice. We also hand out Best Condition and High Point Awards. Members who attend AHDRA-sponsored rides have the added bonus of earning points at 150%.
AHDRA presents Year-End Awards for Purebred Arabians, Half- and Anglo-Arabians, and Juniors who place in Endurance, Limited Distance, Competitive, and Versatility. Awards such as horse blankets, jackets, chairs and fleece photo blankets have been given out. To earn a year end award, your horse must be nominated before any points can accrue. Also, starting in 2022 on a trial basis, there will also be an Arabian Type (AT) division for unregistered horses of Arabian lineage. Refer to Nominated Horses section under Points & Results for additional information regarding nominating a horse, nomination forms, and verifying the list of existing nominated horses.
AHDRA offers Versatility Awards to the High Point Purebred, Partbred and Junior who complete a minimum of two rides in each category- Endurance, Limited Distance and Competitive Trail. You must nominate your horse by July 1 each year to be considered. When the 2-ride minimum requirement in each category is met, the horse/rider team with the highest points wins. Send your nomination (Rider Name, Horse Name) to the AHDRA pointskeeper by email.
Since 1973, many exceptional horses and riders have graced the plaques on this trophy. Harry McGlothlen donated the trophy to AHDRA. It is to be given to the first place Purebred Arabian Gelding over the line at one of our endurance rides. From local-town talents to world-famous athletes, we are proud of the history this trophy represents. For a brief history of the trophy and its impact on AHDRA, click HERE. If you would like to add something about a rider, horse, or ride, please inform us as we would like to make this treasured past as detailed and accurate as possible.

Sponsored by AHDRA and awarded to the individual who has been an outstanding mentor, helping others learn about the sport of Distance Riding. The recipient is chosen by the AHDRA Executive Board and is announced at the UMECRA awards banquet. To nominate a mentor, the person(s) who benefited from the mentor’s support should send a letter to the AHDRA President no later than December 1st, highlighting the reasons for the nomination.
Between 2009 and 2017 AHDRA offered a Triple Crown Award, given to the high point rider who attends three out of four AHDRA rides. This award was sponsored by the same person for many years, but that era has ended. As such, there has been a considerable gap in time since the last award had a sponsor.
We want to thank Sarah Mowrer for donating a quilt for the reinstated Triple Crown Award to be given out at the end of the 2026 season. Because AHDRA only has two sponsored rides in 2026, we are offering the triple crown to those who attend both AHDRA sponsored rides and also Firecracker Fling, an AHDRA ‘bonus points’ ride. You must attend all three in order to qualify for the Triple Crown Award for the 2026 season.
Horses do not need to be Arab or part-Arab; riders do not need to be AHDRA members. Each ride offers a Jewel in the Crown Award. Every entry at a qualifying ride is a ‘ticket to win’ and a drawing will be held at Big River. You do not need to complete to earn an entry but you MUST start the event!
